Judge Ken Anderson Gets 10 days in county jail for wrongfully sending Michael Morton to Prison for 25 Years; Crooked Cop Roundup; More on the Kerrville Cross; Stolen Valor Update Coming

For the First Time Ever, a Prosecutor Will Go to Jail for Wrongfully Convicting an Innocent Man
Today in Texas, former prosecutor and judge Ken Anderson pled guilty to intentionally failing to disclose evidence in a case that sent an innocent man, Michael Morton, to prison for the murder of his wife. When trying the case as a prosecutor, Anderson possessed evidence that may have cleared Morton, including statements from the crime's only eyewitness that Morton wasn't the culprit. Anderson sat on this evidence, and then watched Morton get convicted. While Morton remained in prison for the next 25 years, Anderson's career flourished, and he eventually became a judge.

In today's deal, Anderson pled to criminal contempt, and will have to give up his law license, perform 500 hours of community service, and spend 10 days in jail. Anderson had already resigned in September from his position on the Texas bench.

I agree with the author of Grits for Breakfast' article Ken Anderson's punishment for Brady violations tepid justice: "A prosecutor going to jail for Brady violations may be a first, but compared to what Morton faced, it's hard to say with a straight face that Anderson was "actually punished in a meaningful way." Losing his bar license is surely a bigger deal than ten days in jail. And at his age, with his judicial pension intact, losing his license wasn't as harsh a punishment as the national media disapprobation he's endured. As justice goes, this outcome represents relatively weak tea compared to the monstrous injustice Michael Morton endured at Anderson's hands."

Another Innocent Man Freed After Decades in Prison
LOS ANGELES -- LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man who spent 34 years behind bars for a decades-old killing was freed from jail Friday after his conviction was overturned. Register was convicted of killing Jack Sasson, 78, in April 1979 and sentenced to 27 years to life in prison. He always maintained his innocence.

Superior Court Judge Katherine Mader threw out the conviction on Thursday, ruling that prosecutors used false testimony at trial and failed to disclose exculpatory evidence.

The Coming Anarchy
Chicagoland: Flash Mobs (Thugs) Ransack Three Chicago Stores
CHICAGO (CBS) — Unbelievable surveillance video captured flash mobs dashing into store after store and running out with armloads and sometimes entire racks of sporting goods.

It has happened at three different Sports Authority stores in the Chicago area.

This past Monday in Burbank at just before 1 p.m., five individuals entered a Sports Authority and soon after they were off. Video shows them running out the door with rack after rack of apparel and an employee giving chase.

I found the part of the website where the owner, Max Greiner, gives a how-to on getting good pictures of angels:
DO YOUR OWN ORB EXPERIMENT
If you would like to photograph one of these Angel Orbs, do your own experiment. Get a camera and set it so the flash will operate. Cameras with the flash located closer to the lens seem to be better tools for photographing both “natural” and “supernatural” Orbs. However, any digital or film flash camera will work.

Take some flash pictures inside or outside and see what you find. Then, pray and ask God, in the name of Jesus Christ, if He will let you photograph His angels. You will be amazed! Good locations to find holy Angel Orbs include Christian church services, Christian functions and around children. Remember; always get the permission of the leadership, before shooting flash pictures in a church.

Doesn't God have more important things to do than cheap magic tricks?

Ellison (me) mentioned in Houston Chronicle article

I was mentioned in a Houston Chronicle article last Sunday, Chronicle exclusive: Campaign finances dog Stockman
Stockman, unfortunately, is a congressman from the Clear Lake area. I sued one of his front companies for election violations, and filed and FEC complaint against him. I was representing John A. Culberson, who was running for the 7th Congressional district formerly held by Bill Archer and before him, George Herbert Walker Bush.

  3. After reading these posts, I visited the cross and touched the base. Upon entering my car I noticed a strange, shining substance on my hand. I took a sample and sent it to Weatherford Labs for analysis. The results came in today. The conclusion is the substance is 100% snake oil.
