Deal With the Devil - DEA and Sinaloa Cartel

According to a report by Business Insider:
An investigation by El Universal found that between the years 2000 and 2012, the U.S. government had an arrangement with Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel that allowed the organization to smuggle billions of dollars of drugs while Sinaloa provided information on rival cartels.

Sinaloa, led by Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, supplies 80% of the drugs entering the Chicago area and has a presence in cities across the U.S.

There have long been allegations that Guzman, considered to be "the world’s most powerful drug trafficker," coordinates with American authorities.

But the El Universal investigation is the first to publish court documents that include corroborating testimony from a DEA agent and a Justice Department official.

  1. This is the biggest story nobody is talking about. The story broke in the afternoon and I immediately asked my talk radio listing friends to tell me how Rush and company would spin this one. My friends reported to me there was no mention of the story on talk radio. The Mexican informant who broke the story also claims operation fast and furious was part of a deal with SInaloa...it seems the talk radio crowd as also gone silent on fast and furious as well. I guess we should not have information that could confuse us regarding the war on drugs, as this story was in and out of the news cycle in the blink of an eye.

  2. I watch a lot of news each day, but until a few days ago I had not heard of this story. Years ago I seem to remember that out CIA was in business with Manuel Noriega, the leader of Panama. I think the CIA was responsible, in conjunction with Noriega, for bringing millions of $’s of drugs to the US. The US government turned a blind eye to Noriega as he built sophisticated channels for money laundering and drug distribution When Noriega was no longer useful, we indicted him in the US and attacked the sovereign country of Panama arresting the leader and killing dozens of innocent citizens. Noriega was put to trial in Federal Court for Drug Trafficking and was sentenced to life - originally in a prison in Florida. In 20 years or so, I have never heard another word, but I bet he is in jail somewhere. We won’t hear much more about this latest story either. The Right Wing hates it when their big government law enforcement agencies are exposed as the largest drug dealers in the world.

  3. Here is the latest spin on fast and furious / Sinaloa from Forbes:

"it may be that Operation Fast and Furious was not about a strategy to release guns into Mexico so they could be tracked to drug traffickers, but rather all about using the weapons—as part of the deal with the Sinaloa cartel—to kill soldiers of drug traffickers we wanted off the streets and out of business."

OK so we have a secret foreign policy / drug policy to help the biggest gang kill off it's rivals and thereby advance the war on drugs? Do they really expect us to believe this? Where are Rush, Glenn, and Sean?
