Darwin Award Contestant; White Man Beaten by Black Mob in Detroit - Hate Crime? Serial Killer Tommy Lynn Sells Goes Home to Satan

Darwin Award Contestant: San Antonio Man loses fingers putting penny under moving train
SAN ANTONIO — A man in his 30s lost a few fingers Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to place a penny under a moving train north of downtown.

The man was walking along the tracks with a group of friends just before 1:30 p.m. near the 100 block of Hickman Street, said Deborah Foster, a spokeswoman for the San Antonio Fire Department. The group of friends decided to try the trick while the last few cars of the freight train were still passing, Foster said.

I can imagine some enterprising plaintiff's lawyer suing the railroad for not warning that sticking your hand under a moving train is unsafe, or for not putting up a fence to keep idiots out.

Detroit: Motorist who struck boy critical after mob attack
AP: A suburban Detroit man was in critical condition Thursday with severe head injuries after a neighborhood mob beat and kicked him when he stopped to check on a 10-year-old boy who stepped from a curb into the path of his pickup.
.......... The article doesn't report the race of the attackers. Let's see - were they whites, Mexicans, Chinese?

Later today, the local CBS affiliate had the courage to ask:
White Man Beaten By Mob In Detroit After Hitting Boy With Truck: Was It A Hate Crime?

DETROIT (WWJ) - As a 54-year-old Roseville man clings to life in the hospital following a brutal mob beating on Detroit’s east side, many are starting to wonder if the whole thing was racially motivated.
As first reported by WWJ Newsradio 950, an 11-year-old boy suffered a broken leg on Wednesday when he was hit by a pickup truck after walking into the street near Morang and Balfour. The driver, Steven Utash, immediately got out of his truck after hitting the boy and was viciously attacked by 10 to 12 men. The beating was so brutal, Utash was rendered unconscious.

To answer the question - of course it wasn't a hate crime! It's only a hate crime if the victim is black and the perps are white.

Serial killer who targeted S.A. child has died
HUNTSVILLE — Serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells — a drifter who has been linked to the deaths of more than a dozen people, including a 9-year-old San Antonio girl — was executed Thursday evening.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials pronounced him dead at 6:27 p.m., about 13 minutes after he was injected with a fatal dose of pentobarbital.
“It is our belief that how we choose to execute prisoners reflects on us as a society,” said a statement released by Sells' lawyers, Maurie Levin and Jonathan Ross, moments after the court's decision was released. “Without transparency about lethal injections, particularly the source and purity of the drugs to be used, it is impossible to ensure that executions are humane and constitutional.”
Oh boo hoo hoo - the needle stuck poor little Tommy Lynn.

If the angels in heaven rejoice when a saint comes home, what do the demons in hell do when one of their own comes home?

Alcoholic New York Court Reporter Botches Criminal Trials
An alcoholic Manhattan court stenographer went rogue, channeling his inner “Shining” during a high-profile criminal trial and repeatedly typing, “I hate my job, I hate my job” instead of the trial dialogue, sources told The Post.
The bizarre antics by Daniel Kochanski, who has since been fired, wreaked havoc on some 30 Manhattan court cases, sources said, and now officials are scrambling to repair the damage.
One high-level source said his “gibberish” typing may have jeopardized hard-won convictions by giving criminals the chance to claim crucial evidence is missing.
Kochanski’s botched transcripts include the 2010 mortgage-fraud trial of Aaron Hand, who was also convicted of trying to hire a hit man to take out a witness against him.
A source familiar with the case said Kochanski’s transcripts of that trial were a total mess.

  1. There is no better argument for the death penalty than Tommy Lynn Sells, however, Cameron Todd Willingham is a stronger case against the death penalty.
