Chris Kyle Murder Trial Day 2

News media are reporting that shortly before he was shot to death by a troubled former Marine at a Texas gun range, legendary Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle texted a buddy, "This dude is straight-up nuts," a defense attorney told jurors Wednesday.
A lawyer for Eddie Ray Routh said in opening statements of the man's murder trial that Routh's insanity was so evident that Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield exchanged texts expressing alarm as the three rode together in February 2013 to a Texas shooting range.

"He's (sitting) right behind me, watch my six," Littlefield texted back, using a military reference for watching one's back.
This is really disturbing and depressing. It has always bothered me that Kyle went through almost four years of hell, any minute of which he could have been maimed or killed, then came home only to get bushwhacked by a nut job. Why in the world did he let his guard down? Seals, special operators and cops constantly train to keep their situational awareness keen.
There are also reports that the creep who murdered him had been drinking and smoking dope that morning. Didn't Kyle smell it, or see the dilated eyes? All I can think is that he bought into the myth that anyone who wears a uniform is a hero, or at least not a criminal or psycho.
And so far, I don't see any evidence that the killer was legally insane. He knew enough to steal the truck, confess to his sister, then go on a high speed chase from the cops. He told one of the cops that he was insane. Most truly insane people think they're perfectly sane.

  1. Kyle did not go through hell. He enjoyed the killing and volunteered to keep doing it. He lied abut donating all the book revenue to veterans causes, he lied about Jesse Ventura, he lied about killing an armed robber near Dallas. He lied about inside knowledge of snipers on the super dome during Katrina. He has more in common with Brian Williams than Audy Murphy.

His killer suffers from clinically diagnosed mental illness. Kyle was fully aware of this and still put him in juxtaposition with loaded firearms. There are too many bad facts for the Kyle disciples, so now you and others want to represent the accused as a low life. The accused is a Marine vet who saw combat and has a long history of mental illness. The facts don't fit your world view Richard. You cant seem to be objective in these situations.

    1. p.s. - Kyle used terrible judgment getting involved with whacko Eddie Ray. I guess it proves that even decorated Navy Seals aren't superman and are subject to lapses in judgment, like other humans

    2. Have you ever done anything that requires as much courage and inner strength as going through BUDS? When the Seals finish that, they are just beginning - they go to a team, where they are constantly tested - swims, runs, etc. that get progressively longer and harder, jumping out of planes at night, boarding moving vessels - at night, and so on. Once deployed they are constantly exposed to determined enemies of this country trying to kill them. If they make Seal Team 6, they are like Olympic athletes with people trying to kill them. Same with Delta Force, and probably some other units we have never heard of. Kyle, for whatever reason, did seem to spin yarns, which he had no reason to do. Brian Williams is a pretty boy pussy who makes up the heroic stories but never did anything more dangerous than maybe fly in a helicopter.

    3. And Eddie Ray was not in combat. He was a guard at a military prison, like the goons at Abu Gharib. Again, proof that being in the military doesn't make one a hero.

  3. Have you ever lied about killing? Have you ever volunteered to kill time and time again? Have you ever lied to directly profit from killing? Have you ever invaded a country for the wrong reasons and killed the resistance to keep people safe in a country 7000 miles away that are in no way threatened by the "sniped". Kyle was a psychopathic serial killer who enjoyed killing by his own admission. America is a better place without Mr. Kyle. I only wish he had lived long enough to straighten out his life and in no way do I feel comfort or enjoyment from the unjust and tragic taking of his life. Kerrville will continue to produce Johnny Manziel's and Chris Kyle want-a-be's so long as reactionaries control the narrative in this pitiful, small southern village.

    1. Compound question, but answer to all is negative.

I am not a Kyle 'wannabe.' Even when I was a young man, I have no delusion that I could have gotten through BUDS.

  4. Who do you think is the more braggadocious liar, Brian Williams or Chris Kyle?

  5. Williams, because he was just a pretty, shallow talking head
