Crooked New Orleans cop

Trial begins for New Orleans police officer accused of rape

His police cruiser stocked with sex toys and condoms, veteran New Orleans police officer Henry Hollins abducted a woman on a summer night in 2009 and raped her in a warehouse off Tchoupitoulas Street, prosecutors alleged Wednesday at the opening of his trial.

The victim had been questioned by police, unjustly detained in Hollins' cruiser for hours, then brought to an obscure warehouse and assaulted, Assistant District Attorney Bobby Freeman said in his opening statement.

Texas Hill Country Legal Shenanigans

The Texas Hill Country continues with its sordid history of corruption in the criminal justice system, mostly in the 198th Judicial District, which covers Kerr, Kimble, Mason, McCullough and Menard counties. We already had a district judge, Emil Karl Prohl, step down after the State Commission on Judicial Conduct made him resign, then he pled guilty to felony theft. The DA Ron Sutton also pled guilty to felony misapplication of fiduciary property for embezzling from the asset forfeiture fund. A Texas state trooper, Jeff Jerman, just pled guilty in federal and state court to selling Schedule III steroids out of his patrol car and in uniform. A probation officer, Tanna Mozel Tyler Hurt a/k/a Tanna Brown, has been indicted on about 50 counts of stealing money from probationers, tampering with government documents, theft, forgery, etc.
I have a theory: this area was settled by outlaws and corruption was built into the system from the beginning. In the 1880's the governor had to send the Texas Rangers to Junction to arrest almost all the adult males for cattle rustling, murder, and other crimes. It's still the Wild West out here.

Warning to African-Americans: Don't Drive Through Texas Hill Country

African-Americans who drive on Interstate 10 between San Antonio and El Paso are likely to get stopped for DWB (Driving While Black) in Kerr or Kimble County. Anderson Cooper/CNN 360 ran a report in June, 2009 that features a Boss Hawg district attorney claiming there's nothing wrong with himself and judges and their wives using money seized from motorists for trips to Hawaii and other luxuries. There's a link to the piece on my website www.richellison.com

The local DA has his own police force, with signs on their vehicles that say "198th Judicial District Police." Their sole purpose is to troll for people to stop and shake down and they target African-Americans and Hispanics.

If you can't avoid driving through Kerrville and Junction, and if you are stopped, DO NOT consent to a search of your vehicle. They will try to bully you. They will say 'if you have nothing to hide, why won't you let me search your car?' The answer is that you have the right under the United States Constitution to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.

It is not unheard of for local 'lawmen' to plant evidence.
